Augure walked out of her room, her legs cold. She was only wearing a short silk nightgown, and it barely covered her thighs. It had to be atleast two in the morning, the sky having that past midnight darkness it got.
Lightly walking to the kitchen, she went to the fridge, pulling out a Coke and setting the book she'd brought down with her. Sitting down on a stool, Augure opened the book to the page she'd left off on.
Ariana loved this kind of night- of course, she'd loved it more when there wasn't guards posted at the gates of the fucking mansion. She was almost grateful for the collars they'd forced on them even after Storm had pleaded her case that the kids here wouldn't do any harm, because for the first time in a long time, Augure was at peace. No spirits calling out to her, none of them watching and waiting for their master to command them--waiting, not because they wanted to, but because her power forced them to.
Augure almost wished she could still see them because she just wanted the whole thing to be over. If the Act passed, it passed, if not, it didn't. Augure didn't care anymore, she just wanted things to go back to how they'd been.

"What the heck are you doin' up?" was the first thing out of my mouth when I saw Augure in the kitchen. All the kids were supposed to be in their room's, as Storm said. Yet here she was, drinking a Coke and reading a book. Didn't matter that the girl was 21 and an adult, the girl should be in bed. I didn't know what possessed her to be up at this hour, but it didn't look like she was upset about something.
"Somethin' wrong?" I asked, sitting down. Things were hard here, maybe she was having a tough time. Maybe she needed someone to talk to. I wasn't good with talking with people, but maybe if I just listened, that would be enough. If not, she would have to deal with my most likely bad advice.

Augure looked up when Logan said something to her. "What're you doin' up?" she countered, smirking playfully. It didn't matter that Logan was about....however many years her senior, she was a flirt with everyone. She scratched at the collar on her neck. It wasn't bulky, just annoying.
"I just...." Augure sighed, putting the book down and looking at Logan. "Sometimes I wish I could see them again. The ghosts here. Just, everything would be back to normal." Augure loved and hated her power at the same time. It was a strong power, but at the same time she'd heard all the shit talked about her. That she was really just an insane telekinetic. She remembered one night after Xavier's funeral. He'd appeared to her, standing, not in his wheelchair like he had been when he was living. She'd been frightened, then relieved. He'd told her that he'd always be with the school and it's students.
Remembering something else he'd told her, Augure looked up at Logan. "Xavier...wanted me to tell you something."

"I'm up cause I don't trust those guards," I said. Then she said something about her powers. "You ain't the only one who misses their powers. I'm startin' to age. Gettin' slower and things are sore. Found a grey hair today. Hank says once these collars are off, my healing factor will return me to how I was before and I'll go back to aging slowly. But if this collar is left on too long, I'll revert back to my real age. Considering how old I think I am, I'll probably be dead in a year," I said.
"This'll all be over soon an' ever'thing'll be back ta normal. Soon all the ghosts'll have someone ta talk ta again," I assured her. I hoped she didn't think I was mocking her. I truly believed in her power. She never gave away any signs that she was lying.

Augure couldn't tell if Logan was mocking her or not. She crossed her legs, uncrossed them, and got up, going to the freezer. Staring into it for a second, she found what she was looking for. Chocolate ice cream. She grabbed it, taking a spoon out and putting it in the half full carton.
Looking at Wolverine as she chewed, she swallowed and said simply"Xavier said it wasn't your fault." She took another bite and looked out the bay window, debating whether or not she wanted to see his facial expression. She knew that the Professor had been one of Logan's best friends at the mansion, besides Rogue. She was now regretting even telling Logan Xavier's message.

I had completely ignored what she has said about Xavier having a message for me. It felt like it was too soon. Then when she said that Xavier thought it wasn't my fault, I could feel the old guilt building up. I looked down and then back up. "May not be my fault, but I still feel guilty," I said. I sighed. Why was I telling her this. All I wanted to originally do was send this girl to bed and now I was about to have a mental break down, emphasis on mental. I didn't cry much, but when I did, it was never pretty.
"Look, why don't you just get ta bed," I said, covering up my feelings. "It's late and the guards get suspicious when we're up to late."

Augure was about to shake her head no when Logan told her to go to bed, then she saw his face. She'd never seen someone so...so guilty. She knew it wasn't good for them to be up right now; the guards always thought they were planning something.
But she didn't move, just put her hand on his shoulder, in which she hoped was comforting, and remembered what Xavier had told her. "There was nothing you could've done."

"Could'a figured somethin' out," I growled when she tried to comfort me. "Chuck was my best friend and I let him down." I looked away from her. How the hell she could bring up these emotions in me with but a few sentences was beyond me. Then again, I had a lot of emotions running around my head. With Jean returning and Scott's death thrown on top of the Prof's, things had been so stressful.
I may not have gotten along with Scott much, but after working with him for a while, I was actually starting to like the one-eye. I almost couldn't deal with all of this and had thought many times of leaving, but with the guards here, that didn't look like it was gonna happen.

Augure, even being raised in a rich, and not very touchy family, knew when someone needed a hug. And Logan needed one. She got up, and walked over to him. Looking at him for a second, she wrapped her arms around him. She let go, then reached over and put the ice cream carton in his face.
In a voice she hoped sounded joking, she said "Come on. Old people like ice cream.", and smiled her best smile at him, letting some of her blonde hair fall into her face.

Gambit wasn't much of a fellow who liked to follow the rules. Sure, he had been a part of this mansion for a while now, and he was well aware of what he should and should not do, but it certainly didn't stop him from doing taboo. He didn't go so far as to make someone uncomfortable, but he still snuck around and got into things he shouldn't be.
He was walking down the halls, well past curfew, when he came across the kitchen. At first, he wasn't going to walk inside and snoop around, but when he heard voices, he realized he wasn't the only one breaking the rules around the mansion. Looking around the corner of the doorway, he found two people talking to each other. And by the looks of it, it was going to get interesting fast.
He had just caught the lady of the pair urge the man to eat the ice cream, which brought a smirk across the Cajun's face. "Wouldn't call him old if I you, Chere," Gambit said, making his presence known. He had come around the corner enough to lean against the doorway, his dark eyes on the pair that were there previous to him.

Augure turned around at the voice. Smirking, she saw who it was. What was his name again? Remy. That was it. He was part of the X-Men, one of the names thrown around when the gossip turned to them. Him and Rogue had been gossiped about plenty, more than Ariana could count.
She chuckled, readjusting the nightgown so it pushed her chest out more than it already did. Leaning against the counter, not caring that Logan was probably getting an eye ful of her backside and downward, she licked her lips. "And why wouldn't I do that?" she said, letting some of her blonde hair fall into her face carelessly.
He was only what...maybe a few years older than her. Hell, not even he knew. But then again, age never really had mattered much to Augure.

I was surprised when Augure hugged me. I don't usually get hugs from people, so this was a bit of a shock. Then she called me old, and I knew that I was old, but I hated hearing it. I looked up when I heard footsteps approaching the kitchen. They were too heavy to be one of the younger students. Sounded like Gambit's. Just then, the Cajun came around the corner saying something about how she shouldn't be calling me old. That seemed to spike Augure's attention and she leaned towards him, making her clothes even more provocative. I was getting a full view of her backside, so I turned to look at Gambit.
I lifted my bottle in a sort of salute to my fellow X-Man. I then turned to look out the window to see some guards looking at us. No doubt they were suspicious, but I didn't care. They could think and report what they want, they hardly ever have the guts to do anything. We out number them 10 to 1 and while I would never put any of the students at risk, it was kinda nice to have them think that I would. That and even with my powers suppressed, I still took down six guards when they attacked me. Doubt I could do that now with how fast I was aging, though.

Before she even spoke, the girl in the room spiked Gambit's interest. She certainly didn't act the way that most people in the school acted, and it almost brought a smirk to his face to see her acting that way, as his previous smirk had gradually disappeared, gone by the time he was visible to them. He kept that second smirk back, however, and barely gave her any emotion to soak up at all, just stared at her. Though he tried to keep his eyes on her face, they eventually did wander downwards, only so that he would force his gaze up again.
"Why would you?" Gambit inquired with a shrug. He took a step away from the doorway and closer to the pair, though there was still quite a distance between them. After Gambit's eyes had fallen again, he looked over her shoulder to Wolverine, just as he raised his drink, his eyes on Gambit. Remy raised his eyebrow to Logan, but when the man looked away and out the window, his expression turned to normal when he looked back to the broad.
"Den again, Gambit ain' you. You might not see what he do, but if Gambit said dat, den I would." He didn't know if what he said made much sense to her, but he didn't much feel like using his words at this time of the night. Sure, he didn't want to go to bed both because he wasn't much tired and because he felt like breaking a couple rules put into place, but that didn't mean he was feeling the effects of the night.
Remy took another couple steps forward so that he was at the counter Wolverine and the girl were sitting at. He leaned against it with his closest elbow, relaxing his position, crossing one ankle over the other. Though there was still a friendly distance away from the girl, it wasn't much. Certain that Wolverine's eyes weren't on him, Gambit smiled at her, showing his teeth, and ending it with a wink. "What you doin' up so late, eh? Ain' no one follow da rules 'round here?"

"I could ask you the exact same thing, ya know." Augure said, smiling at him. She always seemed to exuberate confidence. Growing up amongst the elite of New York had made it second nature to her--it was almost like breathing.
Augure moved so her arm was touching his, and said, leaning closer to him so she was by his face. "You gotta name, sweetheart?"

Rogue opened her door tiredly, her hair a bit disheveled, the white streaks seemingly seperating themselves from the rest of her hair and sticking out. Combing through them with her fingers, they settled a bit, and she made her way down the hall. The gray sweatpants she was wearing brushed the floor. They were Kurt's, not hers, so they sagged a bit.
She was actually grateful for the collar. She could touch people...but, she didn't feel whole without her powers. They'd become a part of her, whether she hated them or not, she felt off. Groggily she rubbed her eyes and sighed, coming to the kitchen entrance. She heard the girl's voice before she saw her.
"Ya gotta name, sweetheart?"
Rogue went into the kitchen, wrapping her arm in Gambit's and saying. "Yeah, it's why ain't you in bed yet?" she said. She knew all the talk that went on about her and Gambit, and she knew she was only fueling the gossip fire, but Rogue kept her arm in his, even leaning her head on his shoulder.
Her and Remy had become pretty close when he joined the X-Men. They weren't dating, but Rogue knew they were a bit more than friends. What that gray area was exactly, Rogue didn't know.
